Patient Assist VI – Prescription Assistance
Program Description
Patient Assist VI (PAVI) is a Virgin Islands nonprofit that helps uninsured, underinsured, and low‑income residents access essential prescription medications at no cost. PAVI works with patients, their providers, and medication assistance programs so that people do not have to choose between basic needs and their medications.[1][2]
PAVI provides one‑on‑one advocacy to:
- Coordinate with physicians and pharmacies to find affordable options
- Apply for pharmaceutical patient assistance programs and charitable foundations
- Connect patients with drug discount programs and charitable pharmacy pricing
Eligibility
- Uninsured, underinsured, or low‑income residents of the U.S. Virgin Islands
- Under a provider’s care and prescribed medications that are difficult to afford
- Typically for patients who are skipping, rationing, or at risk of stopping medications due to cost[2]
Eligibility for specific medications may depend on pharmaceutical company program rules, income limits, and clinical criteria.
Application Process
- Contact PAVI by phone to discuss your medications and financial situation.
- Share information from your provider (prescriptions, diagnoses, and any existing insurance or Medicare/Medicaid coverage).
- PAVI reviews assistance options, including manufacturer patient assistance programs, charitable foundations, and discounted pharmacy pricing.
- Complete forms with support from PAVI, who helps submit applications and follow up with programs and pharmacies.
Ask your clinic or doctor’s office if they already partner with PAVI; they may be able to make a direct referral.
